About Us

We sell a personal selection of mainly French furniture and decorative objects of the 17th to 19th centuries, a period and place that produced some of the greatest decorative objects ever. Country and casual pieces as well as more formal styles qualify. In addition to furniture, our inventory spans a large range including fine arts, drawings, and prints, porcelain and faïence, textiles, silver, lighting, clocks, and eclectic and unclassifiable pieces. We place a high value on documentation—the stories a piece has to tell.

We have recently moved to Philadelphia from our old base in Charlottesville, where we had a shop for many years. This move was made with mixed feelings, and we hope that we will make many new friends while keeping those we made in Virginia. The move to Philadelphia presents us with both challenge and opportunity, and the process continues to be an exciting one. From this location we can do more shows over a wider range, and can buy from a more extensive network. We have a space – not exactly a shop – here, and we invite you to contact us to arrange a visit. The space is in a renovated historical factory complex, the former Globe Dye Works (http://www.globedyeworks.com).

The “news” section of this site contains a schedule of upcoming shows.

We buy antique French furniture and decorative objects of all sorts, including paintings and drawings. We are especially interested in pieces from the 18th and early 19th centuries, and earlier. We are happy to purchase items from individuals, estates, or institutions, provided these items fit in with our inventory and interests. No reproductions, please.
